U of L Cross Country Gears Up for Saturday's Greater Louisville ClassicPublished by

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's cross country teams will return from a week away from competition at the Greater Louisville Classic (GLC) on Saturday morning at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park. The event, hosted by the Greater Louisville Sports Commission, will serve as the Cards' only home event in 2008. The racing action for the Cards will begin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET, with the men's gold race and will continue with the women's gold race at 10:15 a.m. There will also be a men's blue race at 11 a.m., and a women's blue race at 11:45 a.m. The men's races will be 8,000 meters in length, while the women's races will be 5,000 meters. A total of 65 collegiate teams from 15 states are entered in the event. Highlighting the men's field of teams will be the Cards, the 2006 and 2007 GLC champions, while the Cards (2007 runner-up), Vanderbilt and Texas highlight the field of women's teams.
